Amazon India Will Provide 20,000 Seasonal Jobs

Amazon India disclosed that they will be employing around 20,000 people temporarily for their customer service section, to provide an exceptional online shopping experience to their customers spread all over India.

In their statement, the eCommerce giant revealed that these temporary positions were created to meet the demands of customers in the next six months. The positions are open for Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Indore, Pune, Bhopal, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, and Noida.

The positions are for ‘Virtual Customer Service’, mostly where employed associated will have the option to work from home.

These positions will require the associated to provide support services to customers through chat, email, phone, and social media. In order to apply for the position, a candidate should have completed their 12th, and they should be proficient in languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or Kannada.

Amazon India Director for Customer Service, Akshay Prabhu, said that they were trying to evaluate the hiring requirements constantly in the customer service organization to meet the growing demands of the customers. They have projected the customer traffic to go up in the upcoming six months as Indian and global holiday seasons are coming up. These seasonal positions will provide job security to several candidates, especially at this difficult time.

At the beginning of this year, Amazon had also revealed that it was planning on creating about 1 million new jobs by 2025 in India through regular investments in fields of infrastructure, technology, and logistics. These newly jobs created would directly and indirectly be in the industries of content creation, retail, information technology, manufacturing, logistics, and skill development. This number would have been in addition to the 7 lakh employment positions that were possible in the last seven years through Amazon investments.

Earlier this year in the month of May, Amazon India had announced 50,000 seasonal jobs in their delivery and warehousing network to meet the rising demand of online products after the Covid-19 lockdown was eased.

Amazon’s idea to employ 20,000 people for seasonal jobs will indeed provide a source of livelihood to thousands of families that have suffered financially because of the pandemic.
